World No. 1, Serena Williams, was able overcome 52 unforced errors en route to a three set victory over the German, Anna- Lena Friedsam.
Friedsam won the 1st set in 7-5 thanks to three breaks of Williams serve, which, as we all know that is uncharted water.
Serena provided Friedsam with 14 unforced errors in set two, but she able to overcome her downfalls to win the set 6-3.
Williams upped her game as she usually does when her back is to the wall in the 3rd. The veteran won 78% of points on her first serve. She received an early break to go up 2-0 and never looked back winning the third set 6-3.
If we all know Williams she would belittle herself and talk about the downfalls that she experienced today, but she is still alive in the 2015 French Open and really could not ask for more.
Serena will most likely face Victoria Azarenka in the 3rd round, which will be an old-fashioned catfight. Williams owns the head-to-head series lead 15-4.
