Regis Welch

I am Regis Welch.  This is the place were we will talk about casual topics like sports and entertainment that are prevalent at that moment in time. Some topics may be controversial, but others may be sentimental.

As a kid in the 1990’s I loved sports. I enjoyed seeing Mike Tyson knock people out, Michael Jordan fly from the foul line, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa battle for the home run title in 1997, Tiger Woods fist pump, and the Williams’ sisters dominate tennis. Personally, there is more drama in sports than in other form of entertainment.

I was the voice of the Nicholls women’s basketball team on the Colonel Sports Radio Network’s from October 2012- March 2014. I then became a  communications intern with Nicholls Athletics during the fall of 2013.

My dream is to one day work in an athletics office for a university or a major sports franchise.

A 2008 graduate of Ellender Memorial High School, I was a three-year golf letterman for the Patriots.

What’s up everybody!

I am a proud Nicholls State University graduate with a degree in Mass Communication and a concentration in Broadcast/Journalism.

During my time as a Colonel, I worked for the school’s football program as an assistant video coordinator. Additionally, I was the sports editor of the Nicholls Worth and sports director of KNSU.

Upon graduation, I was a staff writer for a local newspaper down in Houma, LA for roughly six months. I no longer work full-time in the newspaper industry, however I still maintain some side gigs including a play-by-play job for high school football on KXOR 106.3 in Houma and freelance for

I am a gigantic sports nerd. I follow NFL more so than any other league, especially the New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks (yes I jumped on that bandwagon three years ago). I love the NBA and college football. Although I may not keep up with it as much as the other three, I still follow soccer, college basketball and the MLB. I also follow Louisiana high school football closely because my freelance jobs.

I am also a huge WWE, Netflix and video game junkie.
