Serena Williams was able to serve eighteen aces en route to winning her sixth Australian Open championship.
She defeated Maria Sharapova for the fifteenth time in a row. The last time Sharapova was able to beat Serena was in 2004.
Williams, who has now won 19 majors, moves past Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. She is only three back of Steffi Graf and five shy Margaret Court.
“Standing here with 19 championships is something I never thought would happen” Williams said.
Big congratulations to my big sis @serenawilliams on #19! Such an inspiration! #champ
