When is it too early to fire a coach or manager?

It was reported on Sunday that the Milwaukee Brewers fired their manager, Ron Roenicke after the team started the season 7-18. In his time with the team he went 342-331 in just over five seasons with the squad.

The team finished only two games above .500 last season. The Brewers higher-ups knew that this team was not going to contend this year. They didn’t go out and improve the roster over the offseason and assumed they would morph into the Kanas City Royals. The expectations for this team fell harder than Rand Paul, Ben Carson, and Ted Cruz’s hopes of becoming president in 2016.

Did the Brew Crew happen to forget the division that they have been apart of for decades? The Cardinals have had this division on lock for the past decade. The new look Cubs are energized and bound to make a serious run at the division title. They are not going to the World Series, but they have a chance at winning the division. Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are still in the middle of the pack, but they also have chances of making the postseason.

I feel sorry for the Brewers because they do not have the sorry Houston Astros to beat down on in the National League Central. Oh wait; those same sorry Astros are in first place in the American League West.

Yes, I understand that baseball consists of a 162 game schedule, however the Philadelphia 76ers have a better chance of winning the NBA Championship than the Brewers chance of making the postseason this year.

Roenicke started the season with the tools he was given why not let him finish out the lifeless season that his team was predestined to have. Milwaukee had the chance of firing him at the end of last season and didn’t take it.

Craig Counsell will become the interim manager who is going ruin his personal reputation just to keep the Brewers in last place. Roenicke could have done that under his current contract, which had a team option for next season.

In baseball, you will not change the morale of a team or fan base midseason. I can’t speak for all die-hard fans, but if the writing is on the wall, just get out your bifocals and read it. It will be long season. I’m a Braves fan, I have already come to the understanding that season will be disappointing.

I thank you for allowing me to vent, but now I ask the question, When is it to early to can a coach or manager?

Personally, I believe in riding the horse that got you to your present-day situation and taking responsibility for my poor decisions. Give the person a chance to fail, because we all know they will not succeed in Milwaukee. Green Bay yes! Milwaukee no!
