Tiger out indefinitely

Tiger Woods just announced on his website that he will be out indefinitely because he needs “a lot of work on my game.”

Click here for a preview of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro AM.

“Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me,” he said. “My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I’ve said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I’m ready, I’ll be back,” Woods said.

Tiger is now ranked 62nd in the world. This is his lowest ranking since coming on tour in 1996. He will surely fall even farther on the Official World Golf Rankings as long as he is out, The Masters is in eight weeks, so the chances of him playing there are quite bleak.

He went on to add that the injury he suffered last week at the Farmers Insurance Open had nothing to do with he deciding to take a break.

The Farmers Insurance Open was nothing but exciting to the last stroke of the tournament.

It came down to the second playoff hole where Jason Day was able to par the 16th to clinch to the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

With the win he is now ranked fourth in the world. This was he fourth PGA Tour victory.

Day and Holmes were able to salvage birdie to force the second playoff and eliminate Scott Stallings and Harris English.

Jason Day nearly put his third shot on the par 5 18th in the drink. He was able to get up and down to shoot a 70.

Holmes couldn’t make his birdie putt on 18 to clinch the tourney.

Tiger withdraws from the Farmers Insurance Open

In Tiger Woods’ second outing of the year he was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.

On the day he began on the back nine of the north course of Torrey Pines. Woods received bogey on his first and third hole. He was able to get back to par before getting a double bogey on the 11th. He then had to pull out of the tournament due to the injury.

The Masters is nine weeks away, hopefully he will be able to play at Augusta.

You can see his pitch in below.

Koepka wins the Waste Management Phoenix Open

Brooks Koepka was able to shoot a 66 en route to winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open. It was his first tour victory.

Hideki Matsuyama had a chance to send the tourney to a playoff, but missed his left-to-right breaking putt. However, he did record a fairway eagle on the first.

Martin Laird was tied with Koepka after his birdie on the par 5 15th, but he stumbled into the clubhouse as he recorded a bogey on the drivable 17th and he doubled on the 18th after driving into the drink.

The shot of the tournament had to go to Francesco Molinari who recorded an ace on the signature 16th hole.

One of my favorite tournaments on the PGA Tour is the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. The course is beautiful and quite challenging.

Dustin Johnson returns to the PGA Tour after taking the last five months off because he wanted to seek professional help for personal challenges. He has won at least one event each year since 2008. You may expect him to come out hot but he may some rust to knock off.
